Sophie Dries
Architect and designer Sophie Dries founded her studio in Paris in 2014, before opening a second address in Milan in 2017. A graduate of ENSA Paris-Malaquais and Aalto University in Helsinki, with additional training in Contemporary Art at the École du Louvre, she developed her approach through experience with leading studios including Jean Nouvel, Pierre Yovanovitch and Christian Liaigre.
Working across interior architecture, furniture, ceramics and collectible design, Sophie Dries creates private residences, hotels, luxury boutiques and exhibition scenographies defined by a deep sensitivity to place, material and craftsmanship. For each project, she begins with the genius loci — the spirit of the place — immersing herself in its history, context and atmosphere in order to shape spaces that feel both rooted and contemporary.
Her work brings together luxury and authenticity, combining natural materials, artisanal techniques and contemporary know-how. Inspired by the Age of Enlightenment, contemporary art and Arte Povera, she develops interiors and objects where elegance, comfort and experimentation coexist with a strong sense of coherence.
Recognized internationally, Sophie Dries has presented her work at major design fairs and institutions, collaborated with galleries and furniture publishers, and received distinctions including the AD Range Rover Design Award. Regularly featured among the AD100 and named by Phaidon as one of the world’s leading interior designers, she has also joined the permanent collections of the Mobilier National in France.
