With Octa, Sophie Dries reinterprets the historic conversation salon as a contemporary boudoir bar, created for the centenary of the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts.
Organized around a central octagon, the space brings together a monumental bar, exhibition niches and rust-coloured velvet seating beneath a raw linen canopy co-designed with Issé. True to her practice, Dries creates a refined tension between raw and precious materials — hammered metal, rust, linen and welding meet crystal, bronze, wood and velvet.
The project reflects her deep commitment to craftsmanship and experimentation, bringing together exceptional French maisons such as Baccarat, Rémy Garnier, Duvelleroy, Lemarié-Lognon and Lison de Caunes, alongside contemporary makers exploring innovative sustainable materials. Conceived as a place of exchange and hospitality, Octa celebrates Sophie Dries’s vision of design as a dialogue between heritage, materiality and contemporary ritual.
