Pari Pari

For Pari Pari, a Japanese handroll restaurant in Miami’s Wynwood district, the design explores the meeting point between Japanese subtlety and Miami’s radiant energy.

Conceived as a counterpoint to Tanizaki’s In Praise of Shadows, the project becomes a celebration of light. The handroll counter is imagined as a large Japanese andon lamp, crafted in pale American maple to glow softly by day and warm the space by night. Above it, a monumental white linen drape evokes both the traditional Japanese noren and a sacred canopy, framing the preparation of fish as a precise and almost ritual gesture.

References to Japanese craftsmanship appear in the joinery of the stools, while the signage nods to the volumetric logos of Miami’s 1930s hotels. The result is a luminous and atmospheric restaurant where Japanese tradition, tropical modernity and Miami’s sun-drenched spirit come together with elegance.
